Cherry Tree Trot 2024
The positive impact made by the American Women’s Association of Bahrain (AWA) is immense and will be growing again soon. The biggest event to support AWA and the substantial work we do is our biennial Cherry Tree Trot (CTT). This event is one of the largest fundraising, and highest profile events in Bahrain. But we can only do this with the significant support of individuals and companies throughout Bahrain.
Since 1974, the ladies in AWA have been volunteering their time and talents in charities throughout Bahrain. Our mission has always been, and remains, to promote charity, friendship, and cultural understanding in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Our members donate thousands of volunteer hours and work to raise money for Bahraini charities every year.
The Cherry Tree Trot raises funds that support not just a single charity, but more than 30 charitable organizations. More than 2000 volunteers and races participate in the event. We are very excited to share with you that the committee has been formed and Saturday, February 10th, 2024, has been selected as the date for the next Cherry Tree Trot. It will again be held at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir. We can feel the growing enthusiasm in the AWA membership as the planning begins.
It is a tremendous opportunity to see community support make a difference in the lives of so many people starting on that one day and continuing for two years. By supporting AWA and the Cherry Tree Trot, your sponsorship becomes a charitable source of funds for two full years.

What is the Cherry Tree Trot?
The Cherry Tree Trot (CTT) is a fun day with races sponsored by the American Women’s
Association (AWA). It is one of the oldest and highest profile charity events in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
CTT designed as a race for participants of all ages abled and disabled bodies the fun continues after the races with live music entertainment food and beverage for all race participants.

Where will the Cherry Tree Trot be held?
At the Bahrain International Circuit.
What type of running and walking races are offered?
An 5K and 3K adults competitive run is offered, with awards given to the top three men and women in each age category. A 1K friendly walk is also offered for challenged with medals for all finishers. A 5K and A3K adults competitive run is offered with the awards given to the top three men and women in each category. A 1K Race is also offered for the challenged with 0.5k Walkathon for all participants.
Who participates in the Cherry Tree Trot?
Nearly 2,000 participants are expected from all over Bahrain and special invitations are given to adults and children who are mentally or physically challenged to participate. Hundreds of volunteers, including many from the Naval Support Activities Bahrain (American base) will support participants with mental and physical challenges to complete their race.
Where does the money go?
Proceeds from the CTT are placed in AWA’s Community Service Fund and then used to support a variety of local charities for the next two years.
Who sponsors the Cherry Tree Trot?
The CTT solicits sponsorship from all businesses in Bahrain. We are most grateful to the Bahrain International Circuit for hosting us each year.
Who can participate?
The races are open to everyone, regardless of ability, sponsoring companies who may register their staff. Also, schools can register students to race as a group.
Where can I register?
We encourage everyone to register in advance through the official race registration website. Limited last-minute registrations will be accepted at the BIC on the morning of the event. (Please note that on-site registrants may not receive t-shirts or awards due to limited supply)
What is included in my registration fee?
All paying participants will receive an official CTT T-Shirt, a Bib, and post-race meal.
*Runners are responsible for storing their personal belongings during race time as a WA cannot be responsible for them.
